About Us
POETRY:The Art Of Words was founded by the late Mike Amado and Jack Scully in April of 2008. The program brings a feature musician,a feature poet and an open-mic program  to  Plymouth each month at The Plymouth Guild for the Arts, 11 North St, Plymouth, MA [except July and August] It is held on the 2nd Sunday of each month beging at 12:00 noon [except May,!st Sunday] Each September they hold a Poetry Showcase at the annual Plymouith Juried Art Show usually on the !st Saturday of the show.

POETRY:The Art of Words begin in 2008 when Mike Amado invited David Surette to be the first feature poet at his new monthly poetry venue in Plymouth. This was Amado's second poetry program in Plymouth as the Poetry Showcase had began in 2006 as part of the Plymouth Center for the Art, Annual Juried Art Show. Mike Amado left this life after a battle with kidney disease in January of 2009. Jack Scully who had assisted Amado with both the Showcase and PTAOW from the beginning is currently overseeing both of these programs. He was originally assisted with poetry hosts Rene Schwiesow and Sheila Mullen Twyman in running the programs and Tim Reed and Miriam O"Neal joined as a poetry host in 2014. Scully was approached in 2010 by former president of the Plymouth Center for the Arts, Nancy Sealy to establish a join program between poets and visual artist thus Visual Inverse begin in 2011. This is a yearly public reading and exhibit of in this ekpharasis poetry program. Since January 2018 the programs have called the Plymouth Public Library as home.
